August 19, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) Workshop Films 2, LLC, Peter Atencio, (Director/Editor) and James D. Benson (Producer) announced the theatrical release of the 94-minute feature film, ‘The Rig’, starring William Forsythe and Art LaFleur. The trailer can be viewed by visiting the website at: www.therigmovie.com.

Summary:
Events begin unfolding on ‘The Rig’ when a tropical storm forces an offshore drilling company to evacuate all non-essential personnel from the "Charlie" oil rig. The remaining crew settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their night is interrupted when a crewmember goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the crew, eliminating them one by one. Surrounded by nothing but raging ocean with no hope of escape, the roughnecks try to survive the stormy night with an unrelenting force hunting them down. ‘The Rig’ is a sci-fi thriller that takes you on a ride in the tradition of classic thrillers like ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’. ‘The Rig’ was shot entirely on location on a real, working oil rig in Morgan City, Louisiana. The ‘Mr. Charlie’ Rig was the first mobile drilling rig ever constructed and now doubles as a museum and a roughneck training facility, and provides a great canvas that delivers a production quality otherwise unachievable.

Bruce Fowler (orchestrator for ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ and ‘Angels & Demons’, etc…) composed more than 70 minutes of original score for ‘The Rig’. Bruce Fowler has been working in the film music industry for 20 years, both as an orchestrator and conductor for such notable films as ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Armageddon’, ‘The Rock’, and many, many more. The creature in ‘The Rig’ was created by Davis Fandino and Matt Killen, who did the creature effects in ‘Alien vs. Predator, Requiem’.
